Huston co-authored her first children's book, When Little Girls Dream, in summer 2019. Her co-authored book Leadership and Management Tools for the New Nurse published in 2012. Over the course of her more than 30-year career, Carol Huston made a lasting, tangible impact on Chico State’s nursing program and the field of nursing education.
The first edition of The Road to Leadership published in 2017 and the companion book The Road to Positive Work Cultures published in 2019. Carol has over 30 years of experience in various sectors of the real estate industry and started with Jencor in 2000.

The sixth edition of Professional Issues in Nursing: Challenges and Opportunities will publish in 2022. Management Decision Making for Nurses was an AJN book of the year. Her co-authored book Leadership Roles and Management Functions in Nursing is in it's 10th edition and has been translated into five languages. Huston is also the author/co-author of seven textbooks on leadership, management, and professional issues in nursing (24 editions total) and has published over 150 articles in leading professional journals. Huston is the co-developer of the Marquis-Huston Model for Teaching Critical Thinking, which has been recognized internationally by nurse scholars.
